Dr. Craig Evans is a native of South Carolina and a graduate of the College of Pharmacy, University of South Carolina. After one year of practice as a hospital pharmacist, he entered the Medical University of South Carolina, obtaining his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1974. Dr. Evans was privileged to complete his surgical training at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia, serving as chief resident of general surgery in 1979. From 1979 to 1988, Dr. Evans practiced in Spartanburg, South Carolina and was elected president of the Spartanburg County Medical Society in 1986. In 1989, he moved his family to Charlotte and continues to practice general, laparoscopic and oncologic surgery at all of the hospitals in the city. He has a special interest in breast cancer treatment and serves as co-director of the Breast Health Services at Presbyterian Hospital Cancer Center. He has also served as chairman of the Department of General Surgery at Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Evans and his wife are the proud parents of one son and four daughters. He also enjoys volunteering his services for medical missions, having performed surgery in Africa and the Dominican Republic.
