Dr. Geissinger was educated at Yale University where he received his BA degree in 1961. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1965 and remained there for his internship, research fellowship, and residency. He served in the Medical Corp of the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1969.

Dr. Geissinger has been in practice in Charlotte since 1973. He is Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of General Surgery at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He has held positions of leadership in local, state, and national societies.

Dr. Geissinger's particular interest is surgical endocrinology (Thyroid, Parathyroid, adrenal, and pancreas surgery).

Dr. Geissinger is Board Certified.
