Dr. Pederson joined Charlotte Surgical Group in 2003. A native of Oklahoma, Dr. Pederson completed his surgical residency at the University of Alabama. Dr. Pederson cultivated his interest in surgical cancer care, by pursuing a research fellowship in the Departments of Surgery, Radiation Biology, and Gene Therapy. He went on to complete an SSO accredited clinical and research cancer surgery fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Pederson is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is a member of numerous national medical societies including: The American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, The Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), The American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Society of Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, and the American College of Surgeons. He has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals. He is an active Clinical Investigator for the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG).

Dr .Pederson enjoys the full spectrum of General Surgery including laparoscopy. He has advanced Fellowship training in cancer surgery and endocrine surgery.. He has expertise in Surgical Endocrinology (Benign and malignant disorders of the pancreas, thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands), Gastrointestinal cancer (including liver, biliary, pancreas, large and small bowel malignancies), skin and soft tissues tumors (including sarcoma, and breast cancer, and melanoma).

He has specialized training and experience with minimally invasive approaches to stage melanoma skin cancer and breast cancer called Lymphatic Mapping and Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy. He had training and expertise with ablative the technique Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) for metastatic and primary liver tumors. He is also credentialed to place the Mammosite™ catheter for partial breast radiation therapy.

He enjoys the multidisciplinary approach to modern cancer care, as it involves coordinated efforts of several medical specialists including surgeons, medical oncologists, pathologists and radiation oncologists to fulfill the needs of the individual cancer patient. Dr. Pederson sees patients at the Mid-Town Medical Plaza.

Dr. Pederson is Board Certified.
