About Charlotte Surgical Group
Welcome to Charlotte Surgical Group, P.A. (CSG), the oldest and largest surgical group in Charlotte. The group was founded in 1973, born out of the merger of two smaller groups. CSG also recently merged with Randolph Surgical in 1999. There are now 13 surgeons offering a wide range of special expertise. Various members of the group have served as Directors of Surgery, and Chiefs of Staff at the regional hospitals including Presbyterian Hospital and Carolina Medical Center. Charlotte Surgical has a reputation for leadership and innovation in the surgical community, and has built a reputation for high quality surgical care over the past three decades.
Our surgeons serve the entire Charlotte area with five convenient office locations and operating privileges at all the area hospitals. We appreciate the opportunity to care for your surgical problems and will endeavor to provide you with the highest quality surgical care. If you have been referred to our practice by your physician or a friend, it is because he knows that you will receive an honest, expert surgical opinion.
CSG operates as a group practice, which offers several advantages. The group is never left uncovered or with a stranger. One of our physicians is always on call and can answer questions or take care of acute surgical emergencies when they arise.

It includes vascular surgery, thoracic (chest) surgery (excluding cardiac surgery), abdominal surgery, breast surgery, cancer surgery, endocrine (gland) surgery, laparoscopic (minimal access) surgery, colon and rectal surgery, trauma surgery, surgery of skin diseases, and endoscopy. Board Certification and Qualifications
A fully trained surgeon is a physician who, after medical school, has gone through years of training in accredited residency program to learn the specialized skills of a surgeon. One good sign of a surgeon's competence is certification by the American Board of Surgery. All board certified surgeons have completed an approved residency training program and have passed several rigorous examinations. All surgeons in our group undergo re-certification testing every 10 years in accordance with Board requirements.
In addition, ongoing Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements through meetings, seminars and lectures and journals ensure that our surgeons remain up-to-date.

Office Hours and Emergencies
All five offices are open from 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday - Friday.
Not all surgeons are in the offices at these times. When you call the office we will make every effort to schedule you with the surgeon of your choice at a location convenient for you. Some physicians have office hours in more than one location. Please let the staff know if you have a preference for a location.
There is always a surgeon on call to handle emergencies. If you believe your problem is urgent, please let the appointment secretary know so that she can see that your request is handled appropriately. Some emergency cases can be seen in the office. The surgeon will determine what is best for your needs, and will direct the staff to have you come the best site to treat your condition.
After hours and on weekends, emergencies will be seen through the hospital ERs. If you go to an emergency room, and the on-call surgeon is not with CSG, you may request that the CSG on-call surgeon see you.
